Springbank Gardens Community Centre – London, Ontario
The former site of the Guy Lombardo Museum had been under utilized for years. The transformation into the new 3,000 SF Springbank Gardens Community Centre called for paul f. loreto architect inc. to envision a community and public washroom facility which optimized the needs of the community within the context of the site.
The main focus in transforming the museum building into the Springbank Gardens Community Centre was to reverse its relationship to the site and to open itself towards the riverfront activity. The result was a design which gives back to the community a facility which provides a gathering place for social activity and provides a closing link to the newly developed Springbank Gardens while the materials used provide a natural fit into the site’s context.
